The Unknown Heroes Are Around Us

Often, when people hear “hero”, the first thing they think of is superheroes. Teachers, doctors and pastors are all considered heroes. You ask, what is a hero? Does being a heroic person always mean having physical strength or do there exist other traits? Anyone can be a hero. Heroes can exist in real life or be fictional. They may be men or women, children or adult. Batman, Spiderman Thor and Cap could all be heroes. Our heroes can be America, our parents, grandparents, siblings, and even pets. As we age, our perceptions of heroes changes.

Even though we don’t realize it, we begin to believe that there are heroes all around us. These are some of the heroes of the community: single mothers who refuse to buy the basics, foster parents who take in sick relatives, children quitting their jobs to look after them, people who have to give up their dream to support a relative, cancer patients fighting for their lives. Heroes inspire others by doing a variety of things. Heroes can help us discover and embrace the best parts of ourselves and to share this with others. We respect the Red Cross volunteers for their courage and the dangers they face. We join organizations to become active volunteers. Whether it is preserving wildlife, helping homeless animals, or fighting corruption, we are all motivated. Heroes make us want to be better people and give our contribution. Heroes help us not only to save others, but also ourselves. Heroes can change the entire world. They are always looking for ways to help others and they try to not miss any opportunity to do so. Heroes are willing to make sacrifices, whether they be small or large. They are often not prepared for the experiences they will face, but they always make the best decisions in difficult situations. They are respected, recognized and supported for their great future deals because they do this. It is not hard – be a good friend, show your support, be reliable, and be sympathetic. Also, follow your passions.

You will find more heroes than you think. You can find heroes in your family, friends, and teachers. You’ll see that these people are courageous and make great sacrifices to help others. When faced with challenges, heroes retain their humanity. They are always prepared to help others in need. We don’t always know the stories of heroes who don’t like to boast. Your hero is probably somewhere around you.
