Michael Jeffrey Jordan: Biography

Michael Jeffery Jordan is the son of Deloris Jordan & James R. Jordan. He was born on February 17th, 1963 in Brooklyn. In the future, his family moved from Brooklyn, New York to Wilmington, North Carolina while he still was a young child. Michael Jeffery Jordan has two older brothers, Larry Jordan and James R. Jordan. Deloris Jordan was his older sibling and Roslyn was her younger one. Michael J. Jordan went to Emsley A. Laney High School where he began playing sports such as basketball, football, and baseball. He was rejected from the varsity squad because of his small height. In an effort to make up for his disappointment at not being selected, he joined a junior varsity basketball team and scored more than 40 points in several of their matches. He decided to gain 4 more feet of height the following summer and train hard to earn a place on the varsity basketball team. Michael J. Jordan scored an average of 20 points in each game over his 2 years as a high-school basketball senior. He also made the All-American Team.

Jordan was recruited for college basketball by many programs, including Duke and Syracuse. In 1981, Jordan accepted a scholarship at North Carolina. In his first year, he won the ACC Freshman Award for averaging a point per game of 13. In the NCAA Championship game, he also hit the game-winning shot against Georgetown led by future NBA superstar Patrick Ewing. In three seasons as a North Carolina player, he averaged about 18 points and 5 boards per game. Jordan was also selected for the NCAA All American First Team in his junior and sophomore seasons. Jordan left North Carolina in 1984 to enter the 1984 NBA draft after winning Wooden and Naismith as player of year. Chicago Bulls pick Michael Jordan as the third-best player. Jordan completed his degree at North Carolina University in 1986. Jordan became a popular player in opposing arenas during his rookie season. In less than a year of his professional career, Jordan was featured on Sports Illustrated’s cover. Jordan was invited by several veteran football players who were not happy with all the attention Jordan received. This player did not pass the ball to him. In the end, his season ended 38-44. Jordan was named defensive player and MVP of the year in 1987. In 1990 he earned his second MVP, beating the New York Knicks, as well the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bulls won the Eastern Conference championships by beating their Detroit Pistons rivals in four games. The Bulls are in the NBA finals for the very first time. They will be facing the Los Angeles Lakers. Jordan scored 31 points per game and led the Bulls to a 4-1 victory. Michael Jordan retired with six championships in 2003.
