Personal growth depends on the human need to achieve. Success is subjective. Therefore, success can’t be measured solely by numbers. Achievement is a measure of an individual’s efforts. As Rudyard Kipsling wrote in his iconic poem “If,” I strongly believe that success is possible when you set goals and persevere with determination, humility, and resilience.
One can reach his/her goals by maintaining a hardworking work ethic and showing resilience. Kipling is right to point out that all people will encounter obstacles. People must not only be proud of their accomplishments but also humble. This is key to success and satisfaction. Kipling wrote, “If you can meet Triumph and Disaster/ And treat them both the same.” I believe this motto is very true. My achievements are not what define me, but my character and how I handle my mistakes. Therefore, an individual is shaped by their capacity to resiliently endure challenges and maintain their humility.Furthermore, by being optimistic and maximizing your opportunities by using your time optimally, an individual can overcome any challenges. Kipling shares this message through his poem: “You can fulfill the unforgiving hour/ With sixty seconds’ worth distance run.” This principle inspired me to maximize my time in order to reach goals and self-accomplishment. To maximize and improve my abilities, I have taken on extracurricular activities as an individual throughout the year. To complete my Duke-of-Edinburg award, I committed myself to community service, learning languages, and participating in squad swimming. I also participated in numerous science, writing, geography, math, and history competitions. I strongly believe that a person only has 60 seconds to achieve their dreams. A person must be determined and have a good attitude to make it a success. This is how you can get your achievement.
Self-control and understanding the true value of other objects is key to success. To me, determination, humility and perseverance are the keys to achieving your goals. In closing, I would like you to remember a principle which I have learned endlessly from Rafael Nadal. It is that a person can achieve their goals by being determined, humble, and keeping on regardless of any obstacles. That is the ultimate goal.
