For example, photography has allowed me to capture moments of beauty and emotion that I would have otherwise missed. By studying the work of other photographers, I have also begun to develop my own unique style and aesthetic. Painting, on the other hand, has been a way for me to express my feelings and ideas in a creative and tangible way. I have found that I am able to explore deeper aspects of myself and gain a better understanding of my own emotions when I engage with the medium.
In addition, I have been able to explore more technical aspects of art, such as the importance of color theory, lighting, and composition. By understanding the fundamentals, I have been able to use them to create more meaningful and expressive works of art. Through my exploration of art, I have come to appreciate the power of creativity and its ability to bring beauty and joy into our lives.
This essay tells the story of my journey through the world art. Art has been a passion of mine since childhood. I still enjoy it all my life. When I was five years old, I first encountered art. I could create an artwork using any of the random colors and brushes that I had. My mother believed I had talent in art and introduced me to it. I was a natural artist who loved to draw and use different colors to express my feelings. But, I was preparing middle school art when I first learned to draw. Although I was just 12 years old, I spent 14 hours a day in academic art school. I gained many skills that no one could match. Although I was able to create art with great skill, it was stressful. I learned the same information for each day. Each portfolio had to be completed in four hours. If I failed to complete my portfolio in the time allowed, teachers would shout at you and even cut your portfolio. I felt stressed and that art wasn’t for me.
After passing the art middleschool entrance exam, I was granted admission to the top five arts middle schools in Korea. Because I was unsure if I should continue learning art, I made the decision to change. I realized that I could not enjoy art if my focus is on this particular area. At 13 years old, I left the country and moved to Singapore to pursue different educational opportunities. It was more liberating and I learned that art is something I love, even though it’s not something I have to do. My freshman year was the first time I took art seriously. I knew that art was something I wanted to do for my career. The goal of my Junior year Art Junior class was to be able to enroll in AP Art classes. My instructor agreed that I was strong enough to join Pre-AP Art classes, as I am a strong artist. I have been drawing since my sophomore year. In my third year, I took AP- Studio Drawing Art. Although I enjoyed creating my art, it was difficult for me to produce 24 pieces in nine months. Despite being very difficult, I enjoyed creating art, unlike years ago. I practiced every day in the art studio after school. These results are a testament to my tremendous efforts and I received a five-star on the AP Studio Drawing Art.
I have always made excellent artwork in AP Art. But, the styles of all portfolios were very similar. My instructor in art warned me that I would have the responsibility of taking the risk with each portfolio. I found the experience enjoyable, even though it was frustrating for some. I was able to create different kinds of art that allowed me freedom and enabled me to express myself. Art helped me become someone who could communicate my thoughts through drawing.
Taking AP Art Studio as my junior year was a great way to recall my childhood and bring back my love for the arts. It occurred to me that in my childhood I had sprayed paint all over the place and felt the urge to express my emotions. I decided to return back to the art room and improve my artistic skills. After finishing AP Art, I already had 24 pieces. I wanted to create more portfolios. During the summer, I created portfolios every day in my art studio. While I was creating portfolios, they organized a Young Artist Group Exhibition. It featured 20 of the most outstanding student artworks. There was also an exhibition in their gallery. I worked harder at college to complete my portfolio in an art class.
I was able to experiment with new materials and create portfolios because I had many opportunities. This helped me discover which areas were most suitable for me. While I enjoy all art forms, my current interest is in painting and graphic design. Pre-AP Computer Design has enabled me to design graphics on my own computers, and had my work published online. I love the variety of colours and I was drawn to design. I am also skilled in traditional mediums like oil paint, acrylic paint and watercolour. Studio Intensive Art, which is the course I’m currently taking, helped me expand my horizons. I’ve tried many different techniques and have been able to produce pastels and colour pencil drawings that I hadn’t attempted before.
I was active in many activities during my high school years. I also tried to keep a balance between portfolios and academic work. My high school year was filled with opportunities to get involved and give back. In conclusion, I would like to state that art is a passion of mine and that I am always eager to improve my abilities at both the foundation level and the degree level.
